WHAT DO I DO IF A PIPE BREAKS?
If you have a pipe break, it is critical to act quickly. Water from a broken pipe can discharge thousands of gallons in a very short time. It is possible that by the time the damage is discovered, entire rooms could be flooded and walls could be getting wet. Precision Builders recommends the following:
Shut off the main water valve immediately.
Call a professional water cleanup company.
Mop up standing water on flooring surfaces, if possible.
Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to promote warm air circulation.
Locate the frozen pipe and open a faucet.
Contact your insurance company to determine services covered.
Damages from freezing temperatures are preventable with the proper precautions. Please take time to protect your home this winter.
